I read Caged Moon by Rachel Deagan a while back, it was my first ever Werewolf book and Rachel has stopped by and answered all my questions!
I’ve always had a fascination with werewolves since I was a kid. The idea of using that mythos in a novel, was a given to me. What I wanted to do though, was put a new spin on that mythos. I feel I did so, with Caged Moon.
2. Who is your favorite character from Caged Moon?
I would have to say, Charlotte. I really ‘felt’ her while writing the novel, so she spoke to me the most. The funny thing is, in Book 2, (coming out this winter) there are several others that have really stepped up to the plate, and surprised me.
3. Are you a day time writer or a night time writer?
I am definitely a nighttime writer. I’ve never been a morning person, and have a hard time thinking clearly in the early hours. At night, my mind comes alive.
4. What writers have influenced you the most?
This is a tough question, because there are so many great writers out there. Some that have the most recent impact on me as a reader, and a writer are, Cassandra Claire, Maggie Stiefvater, and Julie Kagawa. I absolutely love their novels and writing styles.
5. When you are reading just for you, what do you read?
I write YA Paranormal because that is what I love to read as well. My bookcase is stacked with all kinds of YA Paranormal, and fantasy series.
6. Why do you write?
I can’t picture myself not writing. It’s a part of who I am. I’ve always been a daydreamer. I consider this my excuse to daydream and live out all the crazy fantasy worlds in my head. It’s also a great escape, and a way to truly express myself.
7. What is one thing you’d like your readers to know about you?
The most important thing I’d like everyone to know, is how thankful I am for all the readership. It truly means a lot to me. Thank you.
8. Do you have any projects coming up?
Yes! Caged Moon is only the first book of a trilogy. Book 2, Lunar Passing, is coming out this winter, so keep your eyes open!
I really hoped you guys enjoyed Rachel’s interview, she was so nice!
